Rank Structure and Promotion Guidelines

 

The Bennu Station Rank Structure is as follows:

 

Enlisted ranks

 

  • Crewman Recruit

  • Crewman Apprentice

  • Crewman

  • Petty Officer Third Class

  • Petty Officer Second Class

  • Petty Officer first Class

  • Chief Petty Officer

  • Senior Chief Petty Officer

  • Master chief petty officer

  • Midshipman

 

Officer ranks

 

  • Ensign

  • Ensign Third Class

  • Ensign second Class

  • Ensign first Class

  • Lieutenant Junior Grade

  • Lieutenant

  • Lieutenant Commander

  • Commander

 

Ranks – Captain and above

 

  • For these ranks to be achieved, the CO must send in a recommendation to the RC for the rank of Captain. For higher ranks, the CO must fill out a nomination form to be processed by Starfleet Headquarters as stated in the Starfleet Handbook.

 

 

Bennu Station promotion requirements are as follows:

 

Enlisted Ranks

 

• Crewman Recruit/Private-Initial Entry

• Crewman Apprentice/ Private First Class - 1 month (prior rank) with 10       points

• Crewman /Lance Corporal - 4 months (prior rank) with 10 points

• Petty Officer Third Class/Corporal - 6 months (prior rank) with 25 points

• Petty Officer Second Class/Staff Sergeant - 6 months (prior rank)  with       60 points

• Petty Officer First Class/Staff Sergeant - 6 months (prior rank) with 70       points

• Chief Petty Officer/Gunnery Sergeant - 6 months (prior rank) with 80         points

• Senior Chief Petty Officer/First Sergeant - 6 months (prior rank) with 90     points

• Master Chief Petty Officer/Sergeant Major - 6 months (prior rank) with       100  points

• Midshipman - 6 months (prior rank) with 110 points

 

Officer Ranks

 

• Ensign/Second Lieutenant - 12 months (prior rank) with 120 points or OTS     Completion*

• Ensign Third Class - 6 months (prior rank) with 130 points

• Ensign Second Class - 6 months (prior rank) with 140 point

• Ensign First Class - 6 months (prior rank) with 150 points

• Lieutenant (junior grade)/First Lieutenant - 12 Months (prior rank) with       175 points*

• Lieutenant/Marine Captain - 12 Months (prior rank) with 200 points*

• Lieutenant Commander/Major -18  Months (prior rank) with 300 points**

• Commander/Lieutenant Colonel -18 Months (prior rank)  with 400 points**

• Captain/Colonel -30 Months (prior rank) with 500 points**

***Upon approval from Regional Coordinator, with Region/Fleet participation and 108 Months minimum time in Fleet

 

Points System

 

SFA & SFMCA (TRACOM) COURSE points

  • pass -15 points

  • honors -20 Points

  • distinction -25 Points

 

Commendations and awards points

  • SF and SFMC international awards -50 points

  • Region One Annual and First Brigade Awards -30 points

  • Chapter Annual Awards -20 points

 

Conventions and events points

  • SFI/SFMC International Conference -40 points

  • SFI/SFMC Regional Summits -30 points

  • Sci-Fi Conventions representing SFI/SFMC -10 points

  • Working SFI/SFMC event -5 points/hr

  • Working Other events -2 points/hr

 

Reporting

  • Newsletter  Article/column  – 10 points

  • RDC report – 20 points

 

Membership/Recruiting/Meeting attendance points

  • Annual membership Renewal - 50 points

  • Recruiting - 15 points (per new SFI member recruited)

  • General/Executive Meeting attendance -10 points              (+5 points if in uniform or chapter t-shirt)

 

 

Additional Promotion information is as follows:

 

  • Additional points may be awarded at the CO and Command Staff’s discretion.

  • Time in grade (TIG) plus points must be accumulated to be eligible for promotion

  • Time in grade is in 6 Month increments so that promotions will only happen in January and July

  • Time in Grade  - Crewman Recruit  to Ensign 5.5 years

  • Time in Grade  - Ensign  to Captain – 9 years

  • Limit of two promotions per year allowed.

  • There will be two promotion review periods per year, June and December.

  • Points are reset after a promotion, although any remaining points may be applied to the next promotion

  • Exceptions to TIG, two promotion limit and points are allowed only with a unanimous vote
